Summer is the perfect time to get away, whether you’re flying overseas, heading to the cottage, or road-tripping with family. Just as you pack your passport and sunscreen, it’s important to prepare your hearing aids for the journey ahead. We’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions our patients ask before they travel, so you can enjoy every moment of your adventure without missing a beat.
1.Can I go through airport security wearing my hearing aids?
Yes! You don’t need to remove your hearing aids during security screening. They don’t interfere with metal detectors or body scanners and won’t set off alarms.
2. Can I wear my hearing aids on a plane?
Absolutely. Hearing aids are safe to wear throughout the flight. In fact, you should keep them on so you can hear announcements from airline staff. Just remember to switch them to flight mode if they use Bluetooth.
3. What if my hearing aid breaks while I’m traveling?
Some manufacturers have service centers in major cities. Travel insurance may cover loss or damage, be sure to review your policy
before you go.
4. What should I do if I lose a hearing aid while traveling?
Stay calm! Contact your clinic or hearing aid manufacturer right away, they may help track, replace, or re-pair your devices.
